For me the TouchscreenĪspect is worth the price of admission alone. The iPad is a bit more conducive to traveling and recording. To effectively operate with either platform. You want to be mobile - a 100 GB (minimum) iCloud account will be needed Some things to consider - both platforms have very limited storage - so if I do think the iPad somehow is better for Tone Cloud stuff? Not sure why, but i can create many/multiple banks on the iPad, named as i want them, but when downloading Tone Cloud stuff to the desktop version, i only have access to two, default setup banks? I don't know about whether the laptop version is better than the iOS version, in terms of processing power>tones quality. But, this is just a comment to demonstrate that you might want to consider all the little details that go along with a choice one way or the other. If you're using a laptop, you can probably navigate that scenario better. When i'm on the iMac, my Aeron chair's arm is always in the way. When i'm using the iPad, i'm usually on my bed, which makes playing very comfortable. I think another part of it has to do with the practical concerns of ergonomics and seating. I don't know why, as it doesn't seem like such a big difference between using the iPad's touch screen, but i have only a ten minute tolerance for Bias on the computer, while i can have fun with it on the iPad for hours. I hatehatehate doing all the manipulation of the app with a trackpad/mouse. Aside from my tangle of cables when using the iPad, which i use with headphones, versus using my cmputer speakers when using the desktop app, i vastly prefer using the iPad. I have Bias FX on my iPad, and also on my iMac. I'm no 'power user,' but i would suggest that there's a very significant 'experiential' difference for me, between using an iPad versus desktop/laptop for guitar modeling software.
